Veteran's Day Lyrics 3

Words & Music By: Red Johnson
Pub: 2000 Count Music BMI

If ever a song surprised me this one did. I thought it was just a so-so song until the Boys in the studio got a hold of it. Thankfully they saw more in it than I did. It is now one of my favorites.

1.This week was almost more than I could bear
The stress and strain is showing everywhere
I try to keep my troubles 'way from you
But you still feel them, Dear I know you do

Cho:
So I've got Roses In Mind
Candlelight and wine
Dancing till nine
With my valentine
I've got Roses In Mind
Loving eyes that shine
Looking into mine
With Roses In Mind

Tag:
Looking into mine
With loving in mind

2. Sometimes the way I feel gets out of hand
All I can hope is dear you'll understand
But it can't help but cut you to the soul
I'm scared to death it's going to take its toll

Words & Music By:

Pub: 2000 Count Music BMI

This is another Johnson-Voit collaboration. Having grown up on the farm my heart is still with those people. The big corporations have taken over and squeezed the small farmers out. Maybe it had to happen but however you look at it, a way of life is gone. and so is part of America.

1. Searching for a better life, Grandpa settled on this land
And built this home we love, With two determined hands
He survived against the odds, Hardship only made him tough
But he had a friendly government, On that I've said enough

2. A man was fairly paid, For the sweat of his brow
Congress then was on his side, You cannot say that now
Cause today their bread is buttered, By a lobby twisting arms
And they've let the special interests, Destroy the family farms

Cho:
Even Grandpa couldn't save it now
He pulled it through the great depression
With two horses and a plow
We are victims of a system
And what Wall Street will allow
Even Grandpa couldn't save it now

3. I was working with my Dad, At the time Grandpa passed on
And I began to doubt if I, Could leave it to my Son
Dad didn't live to see it, But there's nothing left here now
I just signed the final papers, And they're loading Grandpa's plow

4. While packing Grandpa's picture, I tried to look him in the eye
And I think he understood, What makes a grown man cry
They are standing here beside me, And we're watching arm in arm
As our name comes off the mail box, Of our family farm

Cho:
Even Grandpa couldn't save it now
They have tied our hands behind us
But our heads will never bow
Cause the ones who call the shots
Don't know milk comes from a cow
Even Grandpa couldn't save it now
